Class A crimes carry a sentence of up to 30 years in prison and a fine of up to $50,000. Class B crimes can result in a prison term of up to 10 years and a fine of up to $20,000 and Class C offenses carry a maximum prison sentence of 5 years and a fine of up to $5000.

Example: Possession of a Scheduled Drug

Range of Punishment:
9 months plus one day  -  5 years in prison
Fine of up to $5,000



Class B

Example: Burglary

Range of Punishment:
9 months plus one day  -  10 years in prison
Fine of up to $20,000



Class A

Example: Trafficking in Scheduled Drugs

Range of Punishment:
9 months plus one day  -  30 years in prison
Fine up to $50,000
